Having watched and read comments over the last month I have refrained from posting comments until now with very good reason, firstly I am appalled at the comments aimed at certain individuals mainly the DOF who after all is doing the job that was asked of him, and the comments made towards the committee who work tirelessly for your club. That said my understanding was that matty AFTER A DIFFICULT SEASON was to carry on and be given a run of games at the start of the season However Matty was sacked due to his lack of contacts and inexperience as a manager at this level and his desire not to work with the DOF just some of the reasons given from various quarters.
I was also appalled at the way matty was treated and in the manner he was sacked and lessons need to be learned, Mr Chairman that was your job not the DOF or a member of your committee, a man in your position should have taken responsibility for that and face to face not a phone call. Just my opinion as you should act in a professional manner
Mr Chairman I agree that no one likes change you may talk the talk and even walk the walk but actions speak louder than words and yes emotions are running high with a number of supporters that said you and your board have had to make some difficult decisions are they the right decisions
That im not so sure of only time will tell.
My personal opinion is that appointing a DOF was a step in the right way providing he can work with the gaffer and support him ie attracting and talking to players recommended by the gaffer and a link with the youth section even sharing some of the work load leaving gaffer to manage the team that’s his job
You then advertise the job of manager another step in the right direction im thinking fair play new man new blood some one with experience at this level and above after all we are a semi pro football club with aspirations to move up the pyramid
Mr Chairman im with you so far and then bang you announce the new set up of personnel I spill my coffee all down my white shirt (cleaning bill in the post) please correct me Mr Chairman but was matty not sacked one of the reasons for lack of experience as a manager at this level of senior football
Lee Cowley is appointed as manager Lee might be a good coach and a really nice guy but nice guys don’t always win football matches question that really puzzles me is that by his own admission has worked at youth football (but at least he has a badge) so where is the experience of managing teams at this level fact is he has less than matty at this level
Zeema Abbey is appointed as assistant manager can’t argue that one plenty of experience of playing at a high level good acquisition for the club but does he have a badge to say he can coach or is it Mr Chairman that he doesn’t really need one
Darren Staniforth 1st team coach is that because he has a badge again Mr Chairman what experience does he have at coaching at this level of football absolutely none athletic step 5 or 6
I think as for reserve manager and working with the youth will be good for the lads and a really nice guy
My point Mr Chairman is that badges don’t mean you can manage or coach we all learn from our mistakes in life as im sure you will too even more so in football and wish ATFC all the best for the new season your going to need it rumour has it that Sandie Shaw applied for the job ?
