When the secretary first suggested a meeting for the supporters to attend and ask questions he said that it would be arranged "hopefully with other members of the committee". This was acceptable to those who answered on the message board and to myself and several others I managed to contact who do not have access to computers and were unaware of the proposal. Yes, some of the older members do not have internet access!
I changed some business appointments I was due to attend this week so that I could be at the meeting. Then, at short notice, this was cancelled and rearranged for next week. Not only was it rearranged, but the format of the meeting was changed. What was initially going to be a meeting between supporters and some committee members is now going to involve "the new management" according to Manny.
I do not recall any of the supporters asking to speak to "the new management". All that was asked for was a meeting with the committee, or those of the committee brave enough to turn up. All we wanted was an explanation of their actions from the committee. The chairman and committee have reneged on that original commitment and foisted a meeting with "the new management" on us. I, and the others I have spoken to, are not the least bit interested in hearing from "the new management". We wanted answers to questions, not to be preached at!
Having rearranged my appointments to next week, including a late afternoon meeting in the north-east on Thursday, I now find I am unable to make further changes and therefore will not be back in time to attend. Were last minute changes made purposely in the hope that some supporters would not be able to attend?
This is yet another instance of the incompetence, bad organisational skills and amateurism of those running the club.
For goodness sake, get things in order and listen to the supporters.
