To all genuine members and supporters of ATFC.
You are all aware of the constant barrage of postings, some showing genuine concern, some making statements and some abusive, full of innuendo and rumour. All because the committee did its job, replaced an ineffectual Director of Football (yes, we already had one) with a new one and reviewed the position of its Manager.
I have suspected that some of the posts placed on the message board were there to create mischief and to try and show there was far more support than in reality there was for a certain point of view. Those that have looked at the message boards of other local clubs, especially Hitchin, will see that their view is that Arlesey Town FC is ‘imploding’. Well, the reality, member’s friends and real supporters, is far from the speculation. Arlesey town is alive and well and going out to prove it next season. It is just unfortunate that the very nature and openness of our message board has laid it open to abuse.
It is this that I am going to discuss. Thanks to an individual from a different club, I was sent an analysis of the postings of our message board. I have since discussed our message board with our web master and had my own staff independently analyse the senders via IP (each computer has its own Individual number).
The results of this analysis has both surprised and saddened me as I have discovered that the worst case, is one member of the club who should know better. This person has come in as 5 perhaps more aliases, and several others have come in as at least 2 or 3 different aliases. These individuals post a question and point of view and then support it or answer the question with another alias. We have also discovered that some members names and identities may be being used wrongly, which is actually illegal as it is a form of identity theft. Frankly, that goes to show that not only are these people hiding behind their aliases, but have so little support for their own point of view they have to make up support!!
So, ladies and gentlemen I am now going to make a statement to these individuals. GROW UP!!!
If these games do not stop right now, I will name and shame. Did you really think people would not find out? I will not have the good names of honest, hard working members of our club dragged through the mud by self centred protagonists who think they can run others down and boost their own egos.
Final POSITIVE note:
For the 09/10 season. Our club is going to have a new manager and team structure as well as a whole new concept in coaching and inter-team management and guidance; that I hope, will, over the next few years, help us to rise above other teams and clubs. This is the new Arlesey Town FC for the 21st century.
Get used to it, stick with us and you won’t be disappointed.
