Thanks for those comments, I appreciate them. You are correct, most people understand mental illness more now, and I have seen a gradual positive sea change of attitudes and opinions over the years. Please spread the word. I hope my book will challenge misperceptions and ignorance. At the same time it will evoke some nostalgic memories of locals who remember the era of the late 70s, and the thriving hospital community that was fairfield. I will hopefully come down in the not to distant future to watch arlesey, enjoy a few pints in the club, and catch up with old mates. It will not be the same without a welcome from Big Ged though.
