Thought provoking comments and i'm pleased my book has generated some interest.However I am somewhat dismayed at some of the negative stereotypical statements about mental illness and patients.1 in 3 of the population will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives, and that needs to be understood when referring to mental patients in a derogatory manner. It could be you tomorrow, or me. Thank you all the same for taking an interest and sharing your views, albeit a bit misguided at times. My memory of arlesey is of a tolerant and accommodating village, and one which embraced the hospital and its inhabitants.Many locals worked at the hospital and I am sure share the same happy memories as I do.I have tried to stress these in my book and promote the positive aspects of the hospital and the area.
