Wedgwood Hunting Plate Posted by Kelly T Keating on July 14, 2012, 7:47 pm I recently acquired this Wedgwood plate featuring a hunting dog and game bird with an Aesthetic border. The plate is impressed Wedgwood and also the 3 initials GCH. Could the initials be the designer of the plate or a date code? There are 2 other plates in the database in this same series. Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't know what these initials stand for...but apparently Connie Rogers has seen a photo of the backside and says there appears to be an impressed 0 also which would indicate the year 1886. The border is known as the MEKADO border, but only rarely marked on the plates. The info. is Batkin's book on Wedgwood. Hope this helps.

The best one is Godden's ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF BRITISH POTTERY AND PORCELAIN MAKRS.
