VOLUNTEER NEEDED As many of you may have seen on TCC’s Web site earlier this year, veteran TCC member and “Old Blue” collector Hayden Goldberg died in January. Hayden made many significant contributions to the study of Staffordshire china, and we would like to memorialize some of his writings on TCC’s Web site. You help is needed. The Magazine Antiques has agreed to allow the Transferware Collectors Club to use without a fee four of Hayden’s articles published in The Magazine Antiques. Our task, for which we require a volunteer to complete, is to go to a good public library, or museum or university library, and photocopy the following articles by Hayden. We will then upload these articles on TCC’s Web site for our members’ use. Your help is needed to locate and Xerox good, clear copies of the following articles: 1) “The Earliest Known Example of Historical Blue Staffordshire” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 178 – 182 of The Magazine Antiques, July 1981. 2) “Two newly identified American views on historical blue Staffordshire” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 281- 283 of The Magazine Antiques, January 1984. 3) “The architecture of Charles Bulfinch on historical blue Staffordshire – Part 1: The early buildings, 1790 – 1807” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 1198 – 1205 of The Magazine Antiques, December 1985. 4) “The architecture of Charles Bulfinch on historical blue Staffordshire – Part 1: The later buildings, 1810 – 1832” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 434 – 443 of The Magazine Antiques, February 1987. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Ted Gallagher at his cell number, 917-509-4932. We thank you for your assistance and cooperation.
I have two of the articles, taken out of the magazines that I would be glad to mail to you to take care of. From your numbers above: 2)"Two newly identified American views on historical blue Staffordshire", pp. 281-283, ANTIQUES January 1984. 4)"The architecture of Charles Bulfinch on historical blue Staffordshire" Part II: The later buildings, 1810-1832, pp. 434-443, ANTIQUES February 1987.
Brilliant! Let me ask you to reach out to David Hoexter, who will be in charge of uploading the documents to the Web site. He'll give you any instructions on mailing, etc. Thanks for help. Ted
Ted, I have a copy of #1 on your list, "The Earliest Known Example of Historical Blue Staffordshire" that I could make available. A little extra is that it is signed. Chet
Fantastic, Chet! Great thanks. So now, with two contributions that Connie's made, the only item we now lack is article #3, “The architecture of Charles Bulfinch on historical blue Staffordshire – Part 1: The early buildings, 1790 – 1807” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 1198 – 1205 of The Magazine Antiques, December 1985. David Hoexter has posted a request for volunteers in the newsletter, so I'm hoping we will finally have a complete roster soon for uploading to our education page.
