Hello- Is there anyone who might have access to OCM issue September 1902, p. 197? I believe there is an illustration and/or text relation to Andrew Stevenson's view of "Remains of Coventham" with medallion portraits of Jefferson and Lafayette. Great thanks. Ted Gallagher Cell 917-509-4932

Ted,
Would you believe that my issues of Old China Magazine go up to August 1902, page 182 and then stop? Close but no cigar.
Chet

Great thanks anyway, Chet. I've never met a soul who owned a full run of this important magazine. My pile consists of: All 1901 issues (Oct.-Dec.) All 1902 but for Aug., Sept. and Nov. All 1903 but for July All 1904 (through Sept. I think the run ended in Sept. 1904) So it looks like I'm missing four issues. Figures the text I need is in one of these. Ted

Brilliant. Call me if you care to sell or, if not, if you might send me a photocopy in exchange for postage and processing. Great thanks. Ted 917-509-4932

Ted, there are four pages of "hits" if you Google "Old China Magazine" (use quotes). Most are dead ends, but you might find your specific issue. Somewhere, some library must have a set, or some entity must have scanned/digitized copies.

Good idea, David. There is one seller with a full 1902 run, but it's a bit pricey for my needs, since I own so many 1902 issues. But I did look to see if the magazine had been scanned by anyone. No, it had not. Bummer for me. The New York Public Library has a full run. So I'll have to run over to the main branch on 5th Avenue and see it. It's a reference item, not for lending. Oh, well. The price we pay for knowledge. By the way, I wrote my master's thesis in the third-floor reading room at the main branch. What a majestic public space, measuring 297 feet long by 78 feet wide. Long oak tables are lit by elegant bronze lamps, beneath ceilings fifty-two foot tall, decorated by murals of vibrant skies and billowing clouds. Many thanks. Ted
