Help -Question about condition from a new collector Posted by NYorkieMom on July 11, 2010, 6:29 am 69.117.160.66 I purchased a large brown Staffordshire eight sided teapot with an asian theme. It has no cracks, chips, or repairs, but it has blue hazing in the glaze, along with a few bluish spots here and there. Does this affect its value? Is it desirable? The maker is PW & CO - LONDON. What might it's value be? Thanks

Other readers don't owe responses. Take a look back at previous postings. Some engender many responses and dialogue, others little or nothing. Its the same on any Internet message board. The individuals responding to postings are volunteers. A few are extremely generous with their time, others pitch in only when a topic is of personal interest. In a perfect world, we would have many more knowledgeable volunteers responding to all postings. You are asking for someone to write an essay on condition, and that is just not, so far, happening. As you become more experienced in transferware collecting, you will gain the knowledge you seek. Don't give up.

Flaws, as seen in your photos, were made in a factory at a time, probably 1830s-1840s, when perfection was difficult. It is truly the eye of the beholder that decides purchase or not.
