At least eight different nineteenth-century pottery firms used the initials ‘J.G.’ One of these firms, the John Goodwin firm, is listed in Kowlasky1999 p.516 as being one of the six different potteries making a “Versailles” pattern. The John Goodwin pottery was located in Longton and was in business from 1841-1851. So it is quite possible that the “Versailles” pattern you are inquiring about was made by the John Goodwin firm in the first half of the nineteenth century.
