Hi Janneke I think you will find it says Govancroft and not craft. This pottery was founded in east Glasgow, Scotland about 1911 and made what are generally termed utility stonewares. Jars and pots of all sizes and uses, for beer, whisky, jam, and everything else you could pot or jar. Domestic pitchers, dishes and kitchenware, which can only be described as useful. In the early 1920s they were said to have dominated the manufacture of jam jars, presumably in Scotland, as elsewhere Maling were doing pretty well in the same market, including supplying the Scottish jam makers Keiller. Your pottery hot water bottle is probably just that, replacing the old style copper and brass ones filled with hot coals, until the stone ones were in turn replaced by rubber ones. Some shapes are called footwarmers. After the 2nd World War Govencroft produced wider and more colourful ranges, in what can only be described as a style revolution. Enjoy your piece of history from another age! I worked in Amsterdam in the early 1970s and saw much of Holland and enjoyed the hospitality of the Dutch people. Regards Andrew
