Hi Eric, Your plate was made by George Jones & Sons. I have a 10.5 inch plate in pink (actually it's red) and I wasn't sure of the maker until I looked carefully at mine. The printed mark is the same but there also is an impressed potter's mark with the stylized intertwined initials "GJ" and a crescent beneath. As far as I know, this mark was used by no other potter. The George Jones firm potted from 1861 until 1957. Your plate, however, has the word "England" printed to the right of the garter mark. The US McKinley Act of 1891 required the country of origin to be identified on all goods sold in this country; some English potters are known to have used this designation prior to that date but generally, a piece with this marking is thought to be after 1891. "Made in England" was used fairly early in the 20th century, placing your plate as made in the last decade of the 18th century. Do you happen to know what "costumbres espanoles" means? Thanks, Margie Williams
