Covered dish - floral and guilt - DuCroz - skinner st London Posted by lynette bender on June 14, 2008, 10:53 pm 121.127.193.71 I have been given this beautiful antique large covered dish, inside the lid it is identified as Du Croz - Skinner St London and under the dish in guilt says 1991 it is beautiful and when I googled Du Croz - London your web site came up for Transferware - it is in beautiful condition - it is transfer ware and does anyone know anything about Du Croz of Skinner St London? They sold china in London in the late 1700s early 1800s. A distant relative of mine, William Millidge married Ann Du Croz and moved into the business. It became known as Du Croz and Millidge. Thereafter he moved to Regent Street. He sold wares from several manufacturers, predominantly Hicks, Meigh & Johnson but also John & William Ridgway. Most of the pieces with a du Croz mark are special orders, particularly with coats-of-arms. It is difficult to comment at all on your covered dish or tureen without any image, but I would guess that the gilt number 1977 is actually a gilder's pattern number.
