I don't know about the salt and vinegar method, but the hydrogen peroxide method is a long-time and widely used method by transferware collectors, dealers, and restorers. I personally have used it on hundreds of items. I use a low oven heat for 45 minutes, I don't bother with the sun (others have their own preferences). There are situations where it may not work, depending on the source of the staining. Do be cautious, any strength over 3 percent can be injurious to skin and eyes, and it is an oxidizer (can fuel fires). And do NOT use household bleach as the soaking agent. It likely will ruin your platter.
