Thanks David. I have looked at the Facebook site Potteries of Stoke on Trent. Very interesting postings there. The exhibit is at a house museum, Historic Locust Grove in Louisville KY. Several chards have been identified. A hunt scene pattern by Clews and the other is a pitcher from Stubbs's Rose Border Series. Care has to be taken with the condition of the barrel especially an older one as we can't have any infestation of bugs in the house. I always believed that the china was shipped in barrels but finding information on the proper size has proven to be a challenge. Also there is the question once it arrived at one of the major ports was it repacked in crates and then shipped or did it remain in the barrel for the journey to its final destination. I have learned quite a bit regarding its distribution but not exactly in what it took place in.
