It is by John Meir & Son of Greengates Pottery, Tunstall, Staffordshire and the pattern is Italian Scenery, which is a series of similar, but different views. Introduced about 1840-5, it was made into the 1860s and probably beyond. the later production is usually of poorer quality owing to the wear on the printing plates.
