The earliest version of this pattern that I could find is attributable to the T, J & J Mayer works, which took over the Joseph Stubbs pottery after 1835.
I had a plate that was marked, if somewhat obscurely, with the M & E initials which made it attributable to Mayer & Elliot of Dale Hall Works, Longport, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, from 1858 to 1861. After 1861 the pottery underwent a long series of changes. The pattern continued to be made under the various owners including Bates Walker and Company, later becoming Bates, Gildea and Walker.
