I’ve just made a wonderful discovery! The entire manuscript of the 1829 Simeon A. Shaw book, History of the Staffordshire Potteries can be found on Steve Birk’s outstanding website. Steve is a native of Stoke-on-Trent and developed his site because of his extreme interest in area history.
The URL for the website is www.thepotteries.org. Over the years, Steve has added so much material that his little “hobby” is a goldmine of information attracting not just collectors but historians everywhere. If you haven’t already discovered this treasure, take the plunge; you won’t regret it!
I don’t know how long the Shaw book has been on the site but I just discovered it. In addition to the helpful chapter links, Steve has added, under “Preliminary Remarks,” a list of headings not in the original, "added for ease of reading.”
