I am an Australian citizen who is currently studying for a Graduate Diploma in Archaeology at the University of the Philippines. In May this year we conducted fieldwork on the ruins of a late 1800- early 1900s hispanic household. During the excavation we recovered more than 300 ceramic sherds, which I am currently studying in order to determine the place of origin, time period and manufacturer for these ceramics. There are a number of transferware sherds in my collection and I was hoping that members of this group might be able to help me?I am a complete novice in this area (I have more experience with Neolithic beads) and, as I am in the Philippines, a third-world country, we don't have reference materials available (we don't have one book dealing with this period) nor any European ceramics experts here.
We are hoping my ceramic analysis will help us date the different soil layers in which the sherds were recovered.
I am desperate for help and any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
