In searching for information regarding source prints for listings in the database, I ran across an incredible site that is essentially an online library. I used it to get good quality images for engravings of many of William Bartlett's Hudson River paintings, which were used by Clews, Jackson, and Wood for many of the Hudson River scenes. Those particular sites are:
www.archive.org/details/americanscenery02willrich
and
www.archive.org/details/americanscenery01willrich
for Volumes 1 and 2 of Bartlett's American Scenery books.
The main site, which has full search capabilities is:
www.archive.org/index.php
One of our members indicates he will be using it to search for and download music. It is FREE and here is their blog about their site:
The Internet Archive, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Like a paper library, we provide free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public.
I hope our members find this information useful
