I have been trying to find out who the maker J.G is on a blue/white transfer printed plate with pattern labelled "versailles" and the initials "J.G".
The stoke on trent museum have found conflicting references and suggested I contact you for the most up to date research.
They have suggested:
...
Petra Williams (Romantic Transfer Patterns 1986) attributes this pattern to Joseph Goodwin and describes the mark (but does not illustrate it) as also saying 'Tunstall' and 'Ironstone China'.
A Kowalski (Encyclopeadia of Marks 2000) attributes 'Versailles' to John Goodwin and does not mention Joseph Goodwin or the mark that Williams mentions.
R Hampson(Longton Potters 1990) mentions various p[atterns produced by John Goodwin of Longton but does not include 'Versailles' among them.
...
Any help would be gratefully received
