I've seen many relatively recent pottery imports to the US marked with a glued-on paper sticker indicating the country of origin. Of course, the sticker is easily removed. I don't know how many years ago this practice originated, perhaps only since WW II. Unrelated to Jessica's pieces, is the observation that many of these sticker-marked pieces show up at "antique shops" or shows as early transferware, when in fact they may be only a few years old.
