Regarding your question about the genuineness of the Phillips mark on your aunt's 'Pastoral Scenery' platter: it IS a legitimate mark. I have a large serving (potato) bowl and in addition to the E&G Phillips cartouche (printed mark), it has an impressed 'Phillips' over a figure 8 (sideways) rope and an impressed 'Longport' under the figure 8. (Unfortunately, the 'Longport' impression is weak and the 'N' is not visible). I have no doubts that my piece is genuine. The scene on the bowl, by the way, shows a man playing a flute, a woman and a child huddled together with a few sheep. Hope this helps (I'll try to send the webmaster a couple of photos for them to post with my response). Michael
