The teaware is handpainted pink lustre from the 1830s-1850s period (not transferware). It appears to be painted on earthenware, but much pink lustre (gold wash) was painted on porcelain. If a lot of lustre was used, the color appears purple. The most common pattern is a cottage, but other buildings and patterns were also painted.
