It strikes me that an additional way of dating might be through importers marks on pieces excavated at Old Velasco and Quintana, Texas (see my note above). At least one New Orleans importer, Hill and Henderson (and successor firms) was involved. I don't think any of the Texian Campaign pieces unearthed at these two sites are marked with an importers name, but others from the same period are. This would take a lot of research for one so-inclined.
