Andrew, since you appeared perplexed by the reference to Jewitt mentioning "The Sydenham Works", I've Googled, and Yahoo'd and searched elsewhere, and I cannot find any other reference to such a place, apart from that one internet reference.
I think that site is probably incorrect.
Again, you threw a ball for me to pick up and run with, thank you.
