Marybeth Stevens. I was fascinated by a line in your response posted on 11/26/2006. You said: "I finally found members of my own Tormeys still living in Westmeath, and have happily been able to meet and correspond with them. May that be your good fortune as well. Marybeth"
I am traveling to Ireland in mid July and intend to visit the Westmeath area. I have written to the priest at Clonmellon and also to a Joe Tormey who lives at Athlone and raises Shorthorn cattle, like my Tormey family did in Grant County, Fennimore, Wis. But have not heard from them. I'd like to know more how you navigated in the area. I am related to Faye Hogan, my mother being a first cousin to her husband John Hogan. My ancestors were Thomas James (James the Younger) Tormey and his son Thomas Francis Tormey who came to America from area of Slievebaum, Killalon, records of baptisms at Clonmellon Parish House, Westmeath. Heard you might know something about an old Tormey farm in the vicinity. Would love to hear from you. Or others...Mick Hinton, Norman, Oklahoma
