There are many Tarmy's in the Williamstown area . Mine came from Kilnalag townland but there are Tarmys in other townlands. I have seen Tormey used in the US but in the Williamstown area and on birth records it is always spelled TARMY. The ones I know about or have heard about that were related to me settled in the New York area. The Michael that I mentioned who was from Kilnalag bc 1820 died in Ireland ,Im pretty sure.
Glenammaddy was the poor law union town , Islands East is a townland in the Williamstown. I think in some way I might be related to some finnegans there but to my memory that was in Kilbeg townland and through The Connaughton or Donnelley family. area . Glennamaddy is 6 or so miles away ,but it is listed as the birthplace on civil records . When I found the civil record for My ggrandfather Glennon it had his birtplace listed as Glennamaddy so I didnt think it could be him . He was born in Polea North townland nr Williamstown, It turned out to be him . They list the poor law union town as the birtplace even though they werent actually born there. The parish in Williamstown is either called Temlpetoger Parish or Williamstown Parish.
