After a couple of years of brick walls I received a reply a couple of weeks ago to a message I posted on another website. The writer mentioned that her ancestor Margaret Tormey Killian (born, I think about 1805 in the place I mentioned in Ireland) and husband Patrick had children who moved from their home in Wisconsin to Escanaba Michigan in 1870. It was in that year that my great great Grandfather John Tormey settled in Escanaba. He had arrived in the US in 1848 and spent time in NY, Penn and Wisconsin prior to settling in Michigan. His children were Patrick, Thomas James, Margaret J., William Edward, Lawrance and Mary Ann. Patrick was my Great Grandfather. He died rather young, so my Mother never knew him. However, she tells me she does remember visiting the Killians in Escanaba as a child and that they were relatives. That's what led me to question whether John Tormey came from the same town as Margaret Tormey Killian. I will find the message that I received (it has a little more information in it) and send it on to you if you are interested. Thanks for your reply!
