I do agree that early registered player DO need to report BEFORE start of tour!
My problem is finding who that players is by start time.
Im the slowest to locate that missing player.
We went thru this issue before somewhat, but have not made it official!
We will do that NOW. It will be stated in the rules that early
registrants must arrive BEFORE 9:00 et!
Now, on the other issue with Fridays, I will get with Rob on this.
I dont care which way he choses, as long as its consistant!!

: I like rewarding early registrants with a
: first round game. On Friday's, Lee and I are
: designated byes if the Prof needs any for
: that tournament. The addition of two points
: won't outweigh the negative of waiting 40
: minutes to play a game. I think we'd lose
: more players.

: I feel a need to post to explain what seems
: to
: have become unofficial policy being that
: we're making use of TourneyKing.com to
: administer the tourney events for TOP, which
: has driven some minor changes of policy
: along with TOP's prior introduction of
: "byes" as was initially proposed
: by 14stewarthass/1TOP NASCAR and how byes
: are now a de-facto standard that all hosts
: make use of to handle last-ins and late
: arrivals. This should clarify to tourney
: players how the hosts have generally and
: consistently been managing events.
:
: When more players register for tables than
: can fill tables, it is usually the last-ins
: who are designated as byes. Byes do not
: play in the first round but are brought in
: for the semi-final round. They get no
: points for round 1, and that had been
: considered fair as the way we previously run
: things before using byes, such players
: didn't get points at all as they did not
: play at all. The use of byes reduces the
: number of wilds from 2nd place needed to
: advance to the semi-finals.
:
: When byes were introduced as a concept, it
: was optional for hosts to even use them, but
: in using TourneyKing, all hosts have found
: this more of a necessity. What still seems
: to be discretionary to this date is whether
: to allow people to register and become byes
: after the start of the tourney. Such a
: window for arriving late and playing as a
: bye is short... perhaps 10 minutes max with
: the first round being 150 points and is
: shorter than when the 1st round was a 200
: point game. Some hosts may decline any late
: arrivals entry entirely or to only accept
: late arrivals if it helps fill another 1st
: round table.
:
: One other aspect hosts consider are what to
: do about people who registered early but
: have not shown up by start time. Some hosts
: de-register such players right before
: starting the tourney, effectively refunding
: the 100 TK coin entry fee for no-shows.
: Hosts who do not de-register such players
: accept the buy-in into the prize pot. In
: either case, if the player who had
: registered early but not shown up arrives
: shortly after the tourney started, they may
: be allowed to re-register if necessary and
: be a bye.
:
: One idea being discussed for a minor policy
: change is about how byes are chosen and 1st
: round point assignments. When TourneyKing
: creates its random bracket assignments at
: the start of the tourney, the byes could be
: the ones randomly assigned to be byes (not
: in a full table) as opposed to last-ins.
: Such byes will be assigned 2 first round
: points but not play until the semi-finals.
: I wasn't sure how well this would go over
: with players who were present and registered
: early - if the 2 points assigned would
: offset any negative feelings about sitting
: out or not. This is just being proposed now
: and no decision has been made on it, so I am
: putting it out there for comment. A
: decision will be made in light of views
: expressed.
:
: Please offer your comments on the proposal
: and/or on the unofficial policy on byes. I
: think it would be good to make official
: policy on this that we can publish on the
: TOP website so players and hosts all
: understand and expect consistency regardless
: of what night of the week they are playing.
