This means if you finish your game and are called to sub for a missing player (who left or got disconnected), you get the points of that player plus the 5 points for subbing. What you posted is not the only thing on the rules page, though. This also comes from the rules page and further elaborates:
SUBS if needed in situations of either a player losing connection, or a Host needing a sub will be taken either from a late arrival or the LUCKY DOG rule, whichever applies 1st.
LUCKY DOG rule. Lucky Dog is determined by the 1st room finished 3rd place player. If that player leaves or advances, the 2nd room finished etc.
SUB Points. A Player recieves 5 points for subbing plus their highest score up to, but not exceeding 10 points for the round.
So, the score a player receives for subbing cannot include 1st room points + 2nd room points + 5 points for subbing. It is the better of the 2 room's points + 5 points for subbing with a max of 10 points possible.
I want to also say what this is not. Subbing is not advancing to round 2 when you werent suppose to. You cannot get sub points if you started the game from its beginning. If you advanced because someone eligible left, that *is* your bonus as you were not going to earn points from that round anyway.
I do not think the above is disputable given the wording of subs and lucky dog on the rules page. I will go further and say that this also only applies to round 1, but as it doesnt say that, I know this can be held to different interpretations.
