Well I did some range time with my new toy.
50 calliber Lyman
At 50 yards I shot my Deer Stalker with .490 round balls (Hornady) with .18 pillow ticking.
I started with 70 grains of Shutzen powder and went up to 90 in 5 grain incriments. I shot a 3 shot group at each incriment. I cleaned the bore with 2 moist patches and then some lube in between 3 shot groups.
The best groups were at 70, 80 and 90.
I think my chrono was thrown off by the excesive smoke that I am not used to. The numbers were incosistent, even whan the groups were.
I will post them when I get home.
I will try it again with the unit set further away from the muzzle. I am going to shoot it again this week to do some fine tuning.
So far I am in heaven.
