I have a friend in Iowa who is a bowhunter that voiced the same concerns to me. Here in WI we usually have some standing corn during our gun deer season. Mostly the fields are 10 to 50 acres. My best luck has been to set up on an edge where the wild critters have knocked down some of the stalks and wait the deer out. Finding some green grass on the edge is a good place to begin. Sometimes the hunting pressure has made the deer nocturnal. Then the best days are dark, stormy and right near the daily closing time.
