I'm not sure that the .50 smoothbore will do anything any better than the .54 smoothbore, just something a little different. I enjoy going as light as possible and still have sufficient gun to do the job if I have the skill to use it. That's why I enjoy shooting a .25 caliber and .29 caliber flintlock for small game.
