The other day I was out with my T/C .50 Flintlock Rifle (Abigail) when I had an interesting problem develop.
For years I have been using patches lubed with Wonderlube. I had just a few left and then opened up a new package of patches that had an oil lube. I wanted to see how these patches worked since they were a little cheaper than the Wonderlube patches.
Shortly after I started using the new patches, I noticed that it was more difficult to get the patched ball down the bore. I was still able to do it, but I had to really hammer the ball down at times.
Everything else about the loads were the same, .490RB with a .010 patch over 55grs of WANO FFg. But once the lube in the patches was changed, it got noticeably more difficult to load starting with the 2nd shot. These oiled patches were bought from TOTW.
Anybody else have something like this happen?
