Got in to Cape Town last night. We're staying at the Victoria and Albert Waterfront. When we got to the hotel last night at about 9:30 we put our bags in the room, showered and I could feel I wasn't ready to sleep so we went down to the bar and I had two glasses of dark rum on the rocks with some orange juice. That did the trick. I slept like a baby.
Our driver picked us up at 8 AM and we drove out to three incredible and remote wineries, Nederburg, Zonnebloem and Plaisir de Merle. Google Plaisir de Merle if you're interested. We got the private VIP tours at each place and had a wonderful lunch outdoors at Nederburg. Did some driving through the vineyards at Plaisir and a little walking, keeping an eye out for cobras and puff adders. Windy as all get out here today!
Beautiful as this place is and as upscale as the V&A Waterfront is, violent crime is rampant and our driver won't let us do anything, even cross the street, without him.
Oh well. Dinner at Balducci's at the Waterfront tonight.
