I got out this weekend, also,to work up a turkey load for my 20 gauge fusil. I settled on 80 gr. of FFFg Goex followed by 2 overshot cards, 1/4" lubed fiber wad, overshot card, 120 gr. of #5 shot, and an overshot card. This load throws a good pattern out to 25 yards, but starts thinning at 30 yards. While I was there, I decided to see if roundballs still grouped well and at 25 yards they cut a cloverleaf in the 2" aiming point using 60 gr. FFFg Goex, lubed 1/4" fiber wad, and patched .600 roundball. I've used this load to take a couple of deer.
With my second turkey permit coming in on Thursday and the weather forecast to be in the upper 70s and sunny for the rest of the week and weekend, it should be excellent turkey hunting; however, the backwater has me pushed out of several spots along the Wabash River. It may get crowded on the high ground. Tom
