I got a little shooting in with my Brown Bess this weekend. I decided to work with Fg Goex powder, and I learned that is was indeed WORK. Those powder granules are so large that they don't flow through a powder spout. Kind of like pouring gravel down a straw, or passing kidney stones. You just shake the powder can hard until the measure fills up, then you bang the measure until the powder surrenders itself to the bore. Bess likes the powder though, as the balls grouped fairly tightly together at 25 yards, even unpatched. But 100 grains of powder will empty a can in short order, so maybe 80 grains of FFg will work ok too. Oh yeah, zero misfires or flashes in the pan!
The rest of the weekend I served as a Range Officer at the NMLRA's Women's Weekend at Friendship Indian. Great camping and relaxation. I could feel my blood pressure sliding lower and lower. And the turkeys were gobbeling up and down the valley every morning and evening.
