If I remember correctly the Enfield has either 3 or 5 groove rifling which is going to make it difficult to measure the bore but it can be done. I have an 1858 2 band Enfield which is first generation Parker Hale like yours, made in 1976, but its never been fired. It has progressive depth, gain twist rifling. I bought it from the estate of a retired Air Force colonel who had never shot it and its been in the back of my safe waiting for me to find the time to play with it. I should just sell it since I can't find the time to do much shooting lately. There is a fella who advertises in Muzzle Blasts that will measure your slug if you send him the slug after driving it through the rifling. If I can find the address I'll post it here for you.
