As long as you are getting keyholes, you aren't truly seeing what the rifle does, so I urge you not to bend any barrels yet. I suspect you had shot this rifle before, been frustrated because it shoots high (then and now), and set it aside for these several years.
If it were mine, I'd try to get a dozen each of several weights and designs of Minnie's and see which works best in the rifle.
