We have lots of activities going on in the Midwest and West. Sometimes it’s hard to make a choice. Over Memorial Day Weekend near home there are three major shoots. The Red, White, and Blue Shoot in NE, the Wyoming State Shoot near Riverton, and the Colorado Springs ML shoot near Florence. I think fuel costs will determine where a lot of shooters decide to go.
There were over 50 competitors at the recent Squirrel Shoot sponsored by the Buckhorn Skinners at their range near Masonville, CO.
Last weekend the Fort Lupton ML club in cooperation with the Ft Lupton Historical Society sponsored a learn to load and shoot a muzzleloader event at our rifle range at the Ft Lupton site. It was a moneymaking event to benefit the Ft Lupton Historical Society. They are using the funds to restore the Fort. The event was called “Heritage Days”. They had many exhibitors and reinactors . Included but not limited to: Vikings, Indian dancing groups, mounted Buffalo Soldiers, WW II reinactors both American and German, Civil War Soldiers, and Mexican Vaqueros. There were neither entrance fees nor parking fees. For a small fee you could learn to load and shoot a muzzleloader, shoot an arrow, throw a knife or hawk. Food was also available including buffalo.
If you are in the area next May the event is well worth visiting. Fort Lupton is about twenty mile north of Denver on Highway 85.
