Run, do not walk, to your primary care physician's (PCP) office. I will wager, just as O'Possum says, you have diabetes, or at a minimum, out of control high blood pressure.
The same thing happened to me 10 years ago. The sight in my left eye deteriorated over the course of a couple days - from blurry to like looking through a screen door to completely black. I went to my optometrist to have it checked out. HBP had caused the fluid between the retina and eyeball to build up so much that it pinched off the optic nerve. The eye doc came in to the exam room and asked who my PCP was. He went away and when he returned told me to get on my pony and get to my PCP's office NOW, he was waiting for me. I got there and then the tests were started immediately. BP was out of sight and blood sugars were in the "you should be dead" range. He said I had Type II Diabetes along with high blood pressure and out of sight high cholesterol. Immediately started me on a bunch of meds and got things under control in a matter of days. The next week was a whirlwind of learning about what had been found out at my PCP. Over the course of several months, my eyesight slowly returned and in about 2 years, was back to 95%+ of normal. It is now back to nearly 100% but is not the same as it was.
If this is what is wrong with you, it can be controlled. If something different is in the works, you owe it to yourself and your family to find out what it is. GET TO YOUR DOCTOR NOW ! ! !
