My first muzzleloader was a 50 calober T/C New Englander that I built from a kit. It shot Maxi Hunters very well (home cast, 355 grains, lubed with Bore Butter) and I killed several deer with that load. I used about 90 grains of FFg IIRC.
I later sold that rifle to a friend that admired it and went with 54 caliber PRBs. I kinda wish I still had that one.
Good luck with your 50 and conicals.
