While I am not up to speed on the sights I am familiar with that rifle. My wife learned to shoot muzzle loaders with one. The 3 position lock is from the trapdoor Springfield. It required a third position to safle allow the opening of the breech. Your lock has been altered by moving material down to fill the 3/4 cock position. If you look at a trapdoor you will see the same stock, lock and barrel. Is it a 3 groove barrel? The first trapdoors were converted Springfield muskets.
