Posted by Dave Rinehart We walked about 2 or 2 1/2 miles down from Folly's and broke the ice free from the edge of the only really long pool, and proceeded to fish. I landed five fish, from 6-7 1/2 pounds and Steve landed three fish, and one was a VERY feisty nine pound hen! Pink sucker-spawn and either white or pink Bill's Sparkel Yarn eggs won the day. Nothing else seemed to work. The fish are there, but with the cold they were only in the holes. Towards the end of the day most of the ice had melted so the walk back was exciting. The water had turned murky green, so murky that only a Grand River lover like Steve Madwell would have like the color. We had to cross the river about eight times on the way back and it's neat crossing water sometimes knee-deep and not being able to see the bottom! Never fell on the way back, the rest of the story I'll tell at a bar some day. But, let me tell you, the water is cold!!!!!!!!!

Steve and I fished the Elk Saturday. Was beautiful, about 2 inches of snow on the ground, ice on edges of the stream (sometimes many feet out in the pool areas.
