Fished the Elk on March 21. Water temperature was 38, so the fish were sluggish (when you could find them). They were NOT sluggish when they felt the hook, but they were really "light" when taking the flies.
There were a fair number of people on the creek, and all the fish were in holes or deep water. Never saw fish in shallow water till about 6 PM.
Peach sucker spawn (small), yellow sucker spawn (the "Colonel"), and orange crystal meth were the effective flies for me.
There was not an over abundance of fish, but there were fresh fish and the creek was fishable, which is more than you could say for anything in Ohio!
