The Fish Gods smiled on me today...Arrived at Platz around 10:00 am and was the ONLY car in the the lot..stream flow and color were perfect. Fished downstream all day until 4:00. There were not enough fish in this section to keep the usual crowd of fishermen happy, but for one guy having access to all the sweet spots it was quite nice. Saw only one other guy the entire day and he was fishing upstream. Talked to him as we were leaving and he said he had done well. As for me, I landed nine in the mouth and as many foul. Most were holdovers - about 4 were relatively fresh (two of them Jacks). Despite the cold temps the fish that took a fly did so rather aggressively. To my surprize, the stream has changed a bit since November; some good holes are gone and some new ones have been created. If you are looking to fish Elk this weekend, my guess is Elk will contiue to drop and clear tonight and given the lack of a good "run" of fish this high up, I'd start a little more downstream. Or, try a Ohio stream if they are fishable (which is what I'm going to do). Tight Lines...Ed
