Posted by Dave Rinehart Anyway, upon advise from others we went to Paine Creek. Arrived at dawn, put our gear on and went fishing! Left my gloves in the truck as the temp was about 45 F at dawn. Well, within two hours the rain had turned to snow. My fishing buddy managed to hook up and land a 20" chromer. So I got fishy smell on my hands, which were now so cold they were turning blue and my feet were numb from standing in 32F water for three or four hours! What a day! I felt like a true steelheader, numbed-to-the-bone cold and smelling of fish. Oh yea, never had bump, a hit, or a bite. But I felt like a true steelheader!!!!!

Charles Harker and I checked out the Chagrin in the early morning hours and found it to be too high and dirty to be productive. The flow was over 1,000 CFM, and my friends say it is not fishable above 500, so . . . . We started out trying to find the Chagrin Park in downtown Chagrin Falls at about 7:00AM and couldn't find the access to it! Still don't know how to get to it, but I thought with all the high water that maybe some fish had been able to get over the dam in Gates Mills. I still think that it's a good idea, but we got lost in the dark trying to find the darn thing. Oh well, maybe I'll go back next weekend and try in day light!!!!!!!!
