Got to thinking that it would be about 155 days until the fall run and this prompted one last trip to the Grand (upper section below dam). After a 10" smallmouth on a Black bugger, things got interesting as I missed two fair hooked steelhead before landing a 10.5 pound male, followed by a 8 pound female. Both these two and the third I landed had lots of fight and all three appeard to be dropbacks. Only saw two fish spawning (and avoided them). Missed a few more, fouled a few too. I was the only person fishing...can't beat that. While I realize some people find this type of fishing less sporty, someone forgot to tell this to he fish I hooked as they fought well, seemed to be no worse for the battle after careful release. Hey, the state of Ohio does stock them for a reason. If you were thinking about one last trip and you are close by, it my be worth the drive. Have a great summer...looking forward to posting in the fall.
