Although as racers we accept the facts that racing is both inherently dangerous and terribly unforgiving of mistakes, news of a fellow racer's passing never fails to impact us emotionally in a profound and lasting manner. Such was certainly the case when we, the staff and crew at NorthStar Dragway heard the terrible news of Tim Hay's passing. Our hearts go out in sincerest compassion to his family, crew, fellow members of the Outlaw Fuel Altereds Association, friends and hordes of loyal fans. Tim's gregarious and indomitable spirit won the hearts and minds of all who knew him. His sportsmanship and generosity endeared him to fans and competitors alike, while his tenacity and track-side antics brought him the fame and legendary status reserved for those rare individuals who are truly "larger than life". In deed, if ever a driver was capable of bringing the fans to their feet, that driver was Tim Hay. As one who never spared the nitro or lifted when out of shape, always running out the back door, Tim drove the way he lived...pedal to the metal, hell-bent for leather and letting it all hang out, with everything on the line...nothing sparing. In so doing Tim brought everlasting glory to the sport of fuel racing and earned his place in our hearts as a hero amongst men. To his memory we bid a tearful adieu while celebrating his life...so well lived and thoroughly enfused with enthusiasm and unconquerable spirit. Thank you and Goodbye dear Friend!
